COASTAL HEALTH SYSTEMS AMBULANCE SERVICE

ALS units are equiped with a UHF radio with 462.95 - 463.175 (MED 1 to 10).
Coastal dispatch is referred to as CENTRAL on the radio. Unit numbers range from
200 to 299. Units 200 to 210 are medical transport units and most of the other
units are used for Medicaid transport, like a bus transit system.
Coastal has the countywide contract to provide the following services:
- Interfacility transports (Hospital to Hospital, Hospitals to Nursing Home,
Home to Doctors appointments, etc...).
- Transport all deceased persons that are to be autopsied by the medical examiner
to the County Morgue in Rockledge.
- Transport all Signal 2's and 20's (detox patients and mental health problem patients)
to Circles of Care or any other facility as required.

These two systems are also used by various users in Brevard County.
Notes:
- "R" after the frequency indicates the repeater output frequency. The repeater input
frequencies are 5 MHz higher.
- Telcom Network and T A Radio Communications use UHF SmarTrunkII scan-based systems.
SmarTrunkII systems do not have a dedicated control channel. When a user initiates a
call, the unit scans the system for a clear channel before it transmits.
- LTR Trunked Systems do not have a control channel.
- All systems have both paging and phone patch capabilities.
- These systems are used by taxi's, pest control, wreckers, repairmen etc.
- Individual users do not need a separate license, only the system owner needs a license.
- The only way of finding out who is using these systems is by monitoring them.
PORTABLE BUSINESS & GMRS RADIOS
The following frequencies are used by licensed portable radios (walkie talkies).
They are used by stores (Walmart, Sam's Club, etc.), schools, land survey crews, fast food
restaurants, road construction etc. Most radios do not show the frequency on them but are
marked with a colored dot or star. These portables are 5 watts or less and have a very short
range. 151.625, 154.57 and 154.60 are the most active, but all are worth checking, since you
will never know what you may hear.
